Community

Through its commitment to the local community, local schools and local charities, our Club has placed itself at the very heart of the communities of both Fareham and Gosport.

Gosport & Fareham RFC has well established links with Secondary schools in both Boroughs through our Schools Liaison Officer who has a programme of regular visits to the schools "taking rugby to the kids".

For many years Gosport & Fareham RFC has enjoyed excellent links with St. Vincent College and Fareham College. Both Colleges have introduced rugby to many youngsters who have joined our Club and gone on to play for the 1st XV.

Most recently, we have formed a special alliance with Bridgemary Community School which is attempting to achieve 'Sports College Status'. We are also forming a relationship with GADSAD (Gosport and District Sports Association for the Disabled).

We support many events in the Fareham and Gosport Boroughs such as the Gosport Carnival.

We have always worked to help local charities, most notably through the Wessex Cancer Trust when over £30,000 was raised in memory of Don Tilling, a promising forward who lost his fight against leukaemia when only 23 years old.

The Club also raised over £8,000 for Cystic Fibrosis charities.

In 1959, the Club was twinned with Royan Ocean Rugby Club as part of the Borough's French Twinning arrangements, which continue to this day with many lasting friendships being formed through a mutual love of rugby.
