1st XV & Senior Rugby
Our 1st XV play in London 3 South West division following the restructuring of the leagues.
Since competitive rugby started in the late 1980s, Gosport & Fareham's 1st XV has enjoyed plenty of success.
In 2001-2002 we reached the final of the Powergen Intermediate Cup - to this day no other Hampshire team has progressed this far in a National Cup competition - and were losing finalists at Twickenham against a powerful Halifax side who gained promotion to the National League a few weeks later. That same season we reached the semi-finals of the Hampshire County Cup.
We gained promotion to London 2 in season 2000/1 after being denied the previous season when we were crowned unbeaten champions of London South West 3 Division, but missed out on promotion due to League restructuring. Twice in four seasons we narrowly missed out on a London 2 South promotion play-off spot.
Earlier honours included promotion from Hampshire League Division 1 as champions to London South West 3 in 1987-88. Following a restructuring, we were promoted back to London South West 3 in 1993.
Prior to that, Gosport & Fareham were winners of the 'Merit Table' in 1979-80 and again in 1981-82.
Other honours include runners-up in the Hampshire Cup (1995-96) and winners of the Hampshire Plate (1992-93).
We currently run four senior men's teams - the 1st XV, the 2nd XV who play in Hampshire Merit Table One, a 3rd XV who this season will play all friendlies with the hope of returning to a Merit Table in 2010-2011, and an occasional Veterans XV.
The Club is actively recruiting players for all teams.
Training sessions take place every Tuesday and Thursday evening (7pm) - new players are always welcome.
