Gosport and Fareham Rugby Football Club - GFRFC

We have been training hard since the start of the season and Petersfield was going to be a good tester to see how far we had progressed.

We were in Pool B against Havant, Andover, Chichester, Petersfield B, Portsmouth.

t was important that we got off to good start and certainly did that against Andover 20 - 0 scoring 4 tries

Portsmouth 0 - 0
Havant 0 - 0
Petersfield B 25 - 0 scoring 5 tries

We ended the pool matches joint 2nd with Portsmouth but failed to go through to the Shield because Portsmouth scored a try more than us.

What a great show, the whole squad played some awesome rugby and we dug in deep especially against Chichester, Portsmouth and Havant.

So on we went to face Farnham in the semi final of the Plate which was a close fought match and scored the only try of the match to go through to the final.

We went into the final against Chichester, by this time it was late in the day and the sun was dropping fast. It was quite a tense 1st half with good defence work from both sides as each side tried to get the first score but it remanded all square at the half time whistle.

Gosport & Fareham started the second half brightly and put early pressure on Chichester but Chichester held firm with good defending work but G & F were making good ground towards the try line and the pressure paid off with the only try of the match to win the Plate 5-0

A special thanks to Joe Cooper for his leadership and coaching the squad in this his first Tournament as Head Coach you must take some praise for going through a tournament undefeated and not have a single point score against us.
