Colin and Patricia have a match of their own so miss Cup Final but raise money in memory of young rugby player
By Brian Seeney
Raffle tickets were mainly sold at our annual dinner dance last Friday evening and a total of £1,425 was raised for the Peter Cox Remembrance Fund.
Peter played rugby for Petersfield Colts and Alton College and had an England U16s trial. He was only 19 years old when he died recently of a suspected heart condition.
Said Colin: "Peter's dad is a good friend of mine and as soon as we realised the Final clashed with our wedding day, we both decided to put the tickets to good use and raise money for Peter's fund which supports the Wooden Spoon Rugby Charity."
Patricia is a current sponsor of our club and is a past main shirt sponsor of Pompey whilst Colin was the successful past manager when our Colts won the Hampshire Count y champions title the season before last. They are regular attendees at both Gosport Park and Fratton Park where they are season ticket holders.
Colin and Patricia donated their Cup Final tickets to the fund and have paid out for a giant TV so that guests at their wedding celebrations on Saturday will have a chance to see the Cup Final live on TV in the afternoon after the couple's own match of the day!
