Double cup joy

Gos beat Andover for the third time this season 26-5 when the two sides met in the Hampshire Bowl quarter final at the Goodship Ground yesterday, completing a double-cup winning weekend.
They wrapped up the tie after only 17 minutes scoring 26 unanswered points.

Scrum half David Cleary opened the scoring after only five minutes, Josh Whitehead converting.

Then Jon Wood scored a tries on eight and 17 minutes, Whitehead converting both, with Alex Herron getting one in between Wood's brace on 14 minutes.

"We scored all of our points very quickly and after that we just relaxed," said Coach Jamie Daly.

"We had a strong side out and I know that the 1st team players who didn't play were upset they were left out.

"To be honest I would have been happy to put that line-up out in a League game and the fact some players were upset shows the spirit and commitment there is amongst the players to the club."

Gos now go to Ellingham & Ringwood for the semi-final on Sunday 28th February with the prospect of a home final tie if they can beat the New Forest side for the third time this season.
